Karl Klein (theologian)

Karl Klein (born December 22, 1912 in Dahlbruch ; † February 5, 2009 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian .

Life

Karl Klein, son of a businessman, grew up in Dahlbruch as the second of four children. He resigned after graduating from the Theodorianum 1932 in the Collegium Leoninum in Paderborn and received on April 2, 1938 at Paderborn Cathedral, the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Paderborn . During the time of National Socialism , Karl Klein was involved in the Catholic storm troop and was one of the initiators of a pilgrimage to Rome with Pope audience with Pius XII. at Easter 1935 and with reprisals when returning to Nazi Germany. As a parish administrator in Alsleben Saale he was because of his activities in the youth ministry and worship services at Polish prisoners of war by the Gestapo arrested and four months in solitary confinement convicted. He was expelled from Saxony-Anhalt and was vicar in Falkenhagen near Lippe and Bielefeld .

After the end of the Second World War, he was a religion teacher in Hamm, Westphalia, from 1950 . At the same time he studied religious studies , history and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . After his state examination he was a teacher at the girls' high school in Hamm until 1964. At the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich , he was with the work of Faith at the turn of the modern era in 1962 to Dr. theol. PhD .

In 1964 he became a lecturer in Catholic theology at the Siegerland University of Education , the first academic institution in Siegen, which was converted into a scientific university in 1965 ( Westphalia-Lippe University of Education ). When the Siegen comprehensive university was founded in 1972, he was appointed professor and when it was converted to the Siegen comprehensive university, he was appointed full professor . Karl Klein developed the subject of Catholic theology at the University of Siegen.

In 1981, Klein retired ; until 2004 he led the services in the St. Marien Hospital in Siegen . He last lived in Anzhausen .
