Karl Lackner (lawyer)

Karl Lackner (born February 18, 1917 in Maikammer ; † March 13, 2011 in Heidelberg ) was a German lawyer and professor of criminal law .

Live and act

Karl Lackner was born in Maikammer as the son of an attorney general and attended schools in Bochum and Bonn . After passing the Abitur in 1936, he went to study law at the universities in Bonn and Munich . He graduated in 1939 and became a soldier in 1940 and a lieutenant in 1942. During the Second World War he was stationed with the anti-aircraft cartillery in France , Russia and Denmark and was eventually taken prisoner of war , from which he was released in July 1945.

In 1946 he received his doctorate from the University of Bonn under Hellmuth von Weber . This was followed by his legal clerkship , which he completed in 1948 with the second exam. He then worked as a court assessor at the regional courts in Bonn and Cologne and at the Cologne Higher Regional Court . In 1950 he married. In the same year he was appointed district judge and went to the Federal Ministry of Justice , where he was responsible for juvenile criminal law. From 1963 until his retirement in 1982 he taught as a professor at Heidelberg University . Lackner became particularly well known for his commentary on the penal code.

He supervised the habilitations of Ingeborguppe and Jörg Tenckhoff .
