Karl Lotichius

August Karl Lotichius (born March 10, 1819 in Wiesbaden , † March 16, 1892 in Sankt Goarshausen ) was a German banker and politician. He was born the son of Johann Friedrich Lotichius (1787–1836) and Charlotte Wilhelmine Goedecke (1791–1863). The painter Ernst Lotichius was one of his eight siblings .

Life

Lotichius first attended the Philippinum Weilburg grammar school . Later he was a merchant, factory owner and banker in Sankt Goarshausen . On May 2, 1840 , he married the daughter of a factory owner Jacobine Wilhelmine Napp in Sankt Goarshausen . The couple had 5 children, including Eduard Lotichius . From 1867 to 1883 he was President of the Chamber of Commerce in Wiesbaden. In 1872 he was appointed to the Commerce Council.

During his political activities he was a left-wing and liberal member of the Nassau Landtag for constituency VIII ( Braubach / St. Goarshausen) in 1848/1849 . As early as 1849 he resigned his mandate (see also: List of members of the estates of the Duchy of Nassau (1848-1851) ). On October 24, 1879, he and Hugo Graf von Matuschka-Greiffenclau (1822–1898) were appointed to the Prussian mansion for life as the first member from Nassau . Lotichius participated in the work of the house as a member of commissions, secretary and rapporteur on bills.
