Karl Ludwig von Goetzen

Karl Ludwig von Goetzen (born January 1, 1733 in Grünthal ; † January 27, 1789 in Landsberg an der Warthe ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 4th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

origin

His parents were the Prussian district administrator Karl Ludwig von Götzen (* April 14, 1697; † May 22, 1746), heir to Gründel, Kraatz and Tempelfelde, and his wife Juliane Charlotte, born von Sydow (* February 11, 1694; † 12 December 1758) from the house of Sydow. Major General Friedrich Wilhelm von Götzen the Elder was his brother.

Military career

Goetzen went into Prussian service in 1746 and joined the cuirassier regiment "Prince of Prussia" as a standard junker . There he became a cornet on March 6, 1753 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Kolin , Breslau , Kay , Kunersdorf and Zorndorf . During this time he became lieutenant on January 21, 1758 and captain on June 16, 1760 .

After the war he became major on June 13, 1767 and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . He was born on September 2, 1780 Lieutenant Colonel and on May 31, 1782 , Colonel . On June 19, 1783 appointed commander of the Cuirassier Regiment No. 2, the King gave him the position of chief of the "Knobelsdorf" dragoon regiment on May 29, 1786. On May 20, 1787, he was also appointed major general by King Friedrich II .

Goetzen married Amalie Charlotte Wilhelmine von Arnstedt (* 1748 - 19 July 1800) in 1765 . The couple had several children including:
