Karl Ludwig von Hintzenstern

Karl Ludwig Hintzen (* 1736 in Pomerania ; † March 6, 1811 in Barth ), ennobled to von Hintzenstern in 1753 , was a Swedish major general .

Life

Karl Ludwig Hintzen joined the “Posse” infantry regiment in Stralsund in 1751 . Together with his three brothers, he was raised to the imperial nobility on December 5, 1753 in Vienna under the name of Hintzenstern . He later entered French services. In 1761 he returned to the Swedish army . In 1762 he was a lieutenant in the infantry from Åbo län and was promoted to captain that same year . In 1772 he was appointed Knight of the Sword Order , promoted to major and accepted into the Swedish nobility . In 1772 he became a lieutenant colonel . In the same year he received a position as major in the Queen's body regiment. In 1773 he was commandant in Wismar . The promotion to colonel took place in 1786. In 1795 he was appointed major general. In 1808 he said goodbye to the military.

From his marriage to a wife von Both came three daughters:

  • Sophia († 1812) ⚭ Baron Karl Heinrich Boije af Gennäs (1774-1851)

He had a daughter with his second wife Maria Sophia von Plessen .
