Karl Roeder (journalist)

Karl Roeder (born November 18, 1890 in Bayreuth , † April 8, 1975 in Hof (Saale) ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

Karl, who is a son of the editor Max and his wife Lina Roeder geb. Jungkunst, studied economics in Munich and Freiburg after attending the humanistic high school in Bayreuth . During his studies he became a member of the Danubia Munich fraternity in 1910 . During the First World War he served with the Reserve Infantry Regiments No. 2 and No. 16 in Munich and the Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 14 in Grafenwoehr , most recently with the rank of first lieutenant .

After the war he became editor and later chief editor at Eisleber Tageblatt . In 1920 he moved to Hof, where he was the chief editor of the Hofer Anzeiger from 1925 to 1943, where he wrote numerous leading articles. In Hof he was a member of the Masonic Lodge Zum Morgenstern , of which he was Master of the Chair from 1948 to 1958. In his denazification proceedings , he was completely exonerated (Group V).
