Karl Thewalt

Carl Thewaldt (born February 17, 1825 in Wallmerode , † July 2, 1895 in Braubach ) was a German judge.

Life

The son of a senior medical officer from Limburg an der Lahn studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg . He was catholic. In 1844 he became a member of the Corps Hasso-Nassovia and then the Corps Nassovia Heidelberg . On August 21, 1848 he was sworn in on the Nassau sovereign. In 1859 he became a court assessor at the Justice Office and in 1861 court assessor. In 1864 he was appointed court and appeal judge in Dillenburg . In 1867 he was promoted to director of the Dillenburg District Court . In 1871 he came to Berlin as an appellate judge . In 1874 he moved to the Prussian Upper Tribunal as a councilor . In 1879 he was appointed to the newly founded Imperial Court. He was active in the Second Criminal Senate of the Reich Court . He retired in 1893 as a Reich judge.
