Karl Zylla
Karl Zylla (born March 1, 1927 in Breslau ; † October 30, 1967 ) was a German SED functionary.
Life
Zylla, the son of a bank clerk and a worker, attended elementary school and learned the trade of a chemical worker . On April 20, 1944, he became a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). During the Second World War he did military service as a soldier in the Wehrmacht . From May to June 1945 he was a British prisoner of war .
After his release he worked as a farm laborer in West Germany until October 1945 and was then obliged to work as a miner in the Ruhr area by the British occupation authorities until March 1946 . In April 1946 Zylla moved to Thuringia , where he became a member of the Free German Youth and in December 1946 of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From May 1946 to November 1947 he was an intern at VEB Kammgarnspinnerei Eisenach and from November 1947 to March 1948 he worked as a lumberjack. In March 1948 he became a full-time party functionary as head of the SED district leadership in Eisenach-West. From August 1948 to 1950 he was a consultant for company groups and in 1950/51 head of the organization and instructor department of the SED state management in Thuringia. From November 1951 to December 1952 he attended the party college "Karl Marx" . He then acted from January to September 1953 as head of the party building and statistics sector of the SED Central Committee . From September 1953 to March 1954 he was employed as an authorized instructor of the Central Committee of the SED in the Altenburg district to investigate the uprising of June 17, 1953 .
From March 1954 to April 1960 was Zylla Second Secretary of the SED district leadership Rostock and was from 1954 to 1967 the county council Rostock. He completed another study at the party college from 1960 to 1963 with the state examination. From July 1963 until his death in 1967 he was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Rostock-Stadt.

- Patriotic Order of Merit in Bronze (1964)
- The 58th Polytechnic High School and Karl-Zylla-Straße (today Eutiner Straße) in Rostock-Lichtenhagen were named after him.
