Karloskar Felser

Karloskar Felser (born September 18, 1911 in Frankfurt am Main , † December 16, 1978 ) was an Austrian geologist and paleontologist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1931, Felser studied at the University of Frankfurt , from 1933 at the University of Graz , where he received his PhD in geology from Franz Heritsch in 1936. phil. received his doctorate. In 1936/37 Felser made mappings in the Carnic Alps and the Karawanken , in 1937 he became assistant to Hans Breddin at the Technical University of Aachen , and in 1938/39 he was assistant to Bruno von Freyberg at the University of Erlangen . From 1939 to 1941 he was clerk and government building officer for the four-year plan for the Bavarian East Mark . He did military service in northern Finland and northern Italy as a military geologist . After returning from captivity in 1947, he and his mother continued to run their father's watch and gold goods business in Leoben . From 1957 Felser was a part-time lecturer in paleontology at the Montanistische Hochschule Leoben . From 1972 until his retirement in 1977 he was full-time curator of the collection of the Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources.

Among other things, Felser researched rugose corals from the Alpine Paleozoic .
