Karoline Gronemann , also Caroline Gronemann , (born July 3, 1869 in Vienna ; † August 20, 1911 there ) was an Austrian pioneer in women's vocational training.

Live and act

Karoline Gronemann joined the Southern Railway Directorate in Vienna at the age of 16 . In order to improve the "economically and socially depressed situation of the earning middle class women" as well as their self-esteem, she founded the "Association of Working Women" in 1901, which initially began with evening courses, but in 1911 it already had 50 teachers and 1,300 students, 2,379 members and numerous branch associations in other capitals of the monarchy.

With the Österreichische Frauenrundschau , Gronemann created an effective organ for her publications on the emancipation that was then still called “women's issues” .

The obituary by Else Migerka in Der Bund , No. 8/1911, summarizes Gronemann's goals as follows: “With a clear understanding of what was necessary and attainable, she took the right path. His goal was: The unification of all those who strive to form an association from which power, strength and advancement should grow for each individual, raising the sense of class of working women and thorough training of the young people who are emerging, drawing on professional women who are entitled to higher demands. "

Karoline Gronemann died at the age of 42 after an excruciating suffering . She was buried on August 22, 1911 in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 35 D, Row 15, No. 3).
