The Charterhouse Annonciation ( 주님 탄생 예고 카르 투 시오 수녀회 Junim Tansaeng Yego Kartusio Sunyeohoe "Charterhouse of Annunciation") is a women's convent of the Contemplative Carthusian Order founded in 2008 in Boeun ( Chungcheongbuk-do Province ) in South Korea .

The monastery is one of five existing Carthusian monasteries for nuns and the only Carthusian nunnery outside Europe.

history

In 2001 the General Chapter dispatched three nuns and two monks, who arrived in South Korea in 2002 and initially lived in Cheongju . In 2003 a plot of land in Dewoli was acquired, and in 2006 the building permit was granted. The monastery building was inaugurated and moved into in 2010.
