The Charterhouse was founded in 1563 by Hernando of Aragón .

The Charterhouse is particularly famous for the paintings by Francisco de Goya . Goya created religious frescoes depicting the life of the Mother of God .

Change to the Chemin Neuf community

In 2011 the Carthusians decided to leave the monastery and join the Carthusians of Miraflores ( Burgos ) and Santa Maria Porta Coeli ( Valencia ). The Aula Dei Charterhouse was taken over by the Chemin Neuf Spiritual Community in February 2012 .
