Kaspar Fürstenau

Kaspar Fürstenau (born February 26, 1772 in Münster , † May 11, 1819 in Oldenburg ) was a German flautist and composer .

Fürstenau received his first musical lessons from his father, an oboist in the court orchestra of the Münster bishopric . After his father's death, his employer, the Prince-Bishop of Münster Maximilian Friedrich von Königsegg-Rothenfels , organized further lessons from the bassoonist Bernhard Anton Romberg .

In 1788, Fürstenau was accepted into the court orchestra by Maximilian Friedrich's successor, Maximilian Franz of Austria . There was u. a. the flautist Josef Antoni his teacher. From 1793 Fürstenau was repeatedly sent by his employer on study trips to the courts of London , Paris and Vienna .

From 1794 Fürstenau was a member of the court orchestra of Grand Duke Paul , whose music teacher he was for some time. In Oldenburg he joined the Masonic Lodge at the Golden Hirsch .
