Kassandra Wedel (* 1984 in Hesse ) is a German dancer , hip-hop - dance trainer and actress .

Life

Kassandra Wedel has been dancing since she was three. At that time, she first got ballet lessons . When she was four years old, she lost her hearing as a result of a car accident. She discovered that dancing is possible without audible music if necessary - the vibrations of the musical instruments, especially the bass , are enough . At the age of 13, she discovered her passion for hip hop and was soon giving dance lessons for the hearing impaired. Before graduating from high school, she completed training as a dance teacher and has been teaching the hearing impaired, deaf and hearing people since then. She is the first deaf trained ADTV hip hop dance teacher in Europe .

Wedel already played theater as a child. In the meantime she has successfully completed her studies in theater studies and art education in Munich and also works as an actress. She played in several dance theater projects as well as the leading role of Alice in the play Alice in Wonderland at the German Deaf Theater .

In 2015, she had a supporting role in the two-part Polizeiruf-110 episode Turning Maneuvers , but her role was completely cut out of the finished version of the film.

In January 2016, she played a major supporting role in the Saarland Tatort episode Totenstille , the first Tatort episode with several deaf actors. The role in the crime scene was inspired by her personality, danced and was also called Kassandra.

In the dance show Deutschland tanzt ( ProSieben ), Wedel danced himself to the audience's favorite in November 2016 and took 1st place in the final ahead of Oliver Pocher and Fernanda Brandão .

In spring 2017 she played the title role in the opera production AscheMOND or The Fairy Queen by Helmut Oehring at the Wuppertal Opera .

successes

Kassandra Wedel has won several hip-hop championships since 2001, both in formation (including German champions 2001, runner-up 2002/2003, European champions 2008) and solo, where she asserted herself as a deaf among the hearing. Together with her dance partner Cora Friebl , Wedel became hip-hop world champion in 2012 .
