Kató Szőnyi
Kató Szőnyi (born December 19, 1918 in Budapest ; † December 24, 1989 there ) was a Hungarian director who worked mainly in the field of puppet theater .
Life
After attending the State Drama School, she completed her training as a participant in the seminars of the Czech puppeteer Jan Malík in Prague . She worked at the Mesebarlang Puppet Theater in Budapest and from 1949 was a member of the then newly founded State Puppet Theater ( Állami Bábszínház ). From 1955 to 1958 she worked as a director and director of the State Puppet Theater in Győr ( Győri Állami Bábszínház ). From 1958 until the end of her life, she took over the direction of the State Puppet Theater in Budapest.
She also worked as a spokesperson for the production of puppet cartoons and was involved in the training of puppeteers as well as in UNIMA .
