Katalepsy (from the English word catalepsy , German: catalepsy ) is a Russian brutal and slam death metal band from Moscow , which was founded in 2003.

history

The band was formed in 2003. After first appearing in the fall of 2004, the band recorded a first demo called Femicide , which appeared on a split release. In addition to Katalepsy, Barbarity , Smersh and Posthumous Blasphemer could be heard on the recording . During 2006 there were several line-up changes. Meanwhile, the group continued to perform and write new songs. Towards the end of the year, the group headed to Z-Studio to record their debut album, Musick Brings Injuries . Due to recording problems , the last songs on the album were recorded in the Zvuk I Golos Studio . The album was released in early 2007 on SoulFlesh Collector Records . The publication followed various appearances, including together with Suffocation in Moscow. The band also went on tour with groups like Jig-Ai and Mucopus . In late 2007 the band returned to the Z-Studio to record four new songs for a split release called Triumph of Evilution , which also featured Fleshrot and Blunt Force Trauma. The sound carrier was released in May 2008 and was distributed by the three labels Grindethic Records , Pathologically Explicit Records and SoulFlesh Collector Records. The release was followed by two tours and an appearance at the Mountain of Death Fest in Switzerland . Various European tours followed in 2009 , a tour through the Far East , another through Belarus and a tour through Central Russia . The group also played at the German Death Fest Open Air . In the following years further concerts and line-up changes followed, so that in 2012 the band consisted of the singer Igor Filimontsev, the guitarists Dmitry and Anton Garasiev, the bassist Anatoly Shishilov and the drummer Evgeny Novikov. In 2013, the next album Autopsychosis was released via SoulFlesh Collector Records . In the USA the record was released by Unique Leader Records . In the same year the band also played at the Berlin Deathfest.

style

According to the Facebook profile, the group was initially influenced by bands like Suffocation , Cannibal Corpse , Nile and Disgorge . Evan Mugford from metal-observer.com assigned autopsychosis to slam and brutal death metal, with the slam shares having increased significantly compared to its predecessor. In the medium-fast passages, the group reminds us of Pathology and Devourment . The growls used in the songs are very deep. Cameron Ervin from metal-temple.com the vocals reminded of Devourment's.
