Katarzyna Leja (born November 8, 1990 in Zakopane ) is a Polish biathlete .

Katarzyna Leja lives in Ciche and is a student. She starts for BKS WP Koscielisko and is trained by Adam Jakieła. She made her international debut at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Martell , where she was used in the sprint and was 63rd. From the 2007/08 season he ran regularly in the junior European Biathlon Cup. A second participation in the Junior World Championship followed in Ruhpolding the following year . Now she started in all possible four races and was 49th in the individual, 56th in the sprint, 46th in the pursuit and tenth with the Polish relay. In the summer of the year, Leja started at the junior competitions of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Haute-Maurienne . In the cross-country competitions she reached 17th place in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit, in the competitions on roller skis she reached 20th place in the sprint and was 18th in the pursuit. For the third time Leja competed in a Junior World Championship in Canmore and ran into 29th in the individual, 28th in the sprint, 34 in the pursuit and seven in the relay. In the recently held junior competitions of the Biathlon European Championships 2009 in Ufa , she came in 16 in the individual, 30 in the sprint and 25 in the pursuit. In the summer Leja took part again in the competitions of the Summer World Championships, where she was only beaten by Larisa Nadeeva in the cross sprint and won silver. In the pursuit, she dropped to 17th place. On roller skis, she finished 16th in the sprint and 21st in the pursuit. A fourth time she took part in 2009 in Torsby at the Junior World Championships. In the individual Leja was 38th, 54th in the sprint, 44th in the pursuit and again seventh in the relay. She also started in Otepää in the junior competitions of the 2010 European Biathlon Championships . The Polish woman was 41st in the individual, 40th in the sprint, 28th in the pursuit and eighth in the mixed.

In 2008 Leja made her debut with women in the IBU Cup in Obertilliach and was 51 in her first race, a sprint. The first major event was the 2009 European Championships in Ufa. After she was still in the individual races with the juniors, she was with Karolina Pitoń , Magdalena Kępka and Katarzyna Jakieła used in the relay race for women and came in seventh.

In the 2008/09 season Leja was appointed to the junior squad of the Polish national team for the first time, from which she dropped out again the following season because the Polish national team was greatly reduced in view of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver to include the strongest athletes to be able to promote better. For the 2010/2011 season she moved up to the B-squad.
