Katharina Ennöckl , married Katharina Bäuerle (born October 10, 1790 in Vienna , † June 20 or June 21, 1869 in Erlaa Castle near Atzgersdorf ) was an Austrian theater actress .

Life

At the age of 15 Ennöckl, the daughter of a state official, already entered the stage career and made her debut on March 22, 1804 as “Pauline” in Kotzebue's Divided Hearts at the Leopoldstädter Theater in Vienna. In 1808 she read aloud to Aloys von Kaunitz-Rietberg and only resumed her stage career in 1813 with guest performances at the Theater an der Wien . From 1814 she worked again at the Leopoldstädter Theater.

Adolf Bäuerle , with whom she had a relationship despite his marriage, wrote several successful plays for her and her acting partner Ferdinand Raimund . But she soon had Therese Krones as a competitor, to whom she was defeated, since Raimund, also a stage writer, wrote some of his most beautiful roles for Krones.

Bäuerle's wife died in 1828 and so she married on May 3, 1829. After Rudolf Steinkeller took over management, he dismissed Katharina Ennöckl in 1829 without any further explanation. Then she withdrew into private life. She died in 1869.

She achieved extraordinary success in both fine comedy and antics. She was considered to be one of the most popular and excellent actresses in the Leopoldstadt theater and it was above all her versatility that was praised, she also earned the honorary title of pearl of Leopoldstadt .
