Live and act

Weber, who grew up in a music-loving medical family with regular music performances, received his first piano lessons at the age of six, first with Blanche Brun and then with Janka Wyttenbach. She left high school prematurely to devote herself to music. At the age of 16 she was a founding member of the group Slow Brüter , which dealt with the works of John Cage , Morton Feldman , Dieter Schnebel , Klaus Huber , Leoš Janáček , Hanns Eisler , Urs Peter Schneider and Simon Beyeler and tried out unusual concert forms. Inspired by Philippe Micol , who belonged to this group, she was already engaged in improvisation at that time. She completed her piano studies in 1979 with Jürg Wyttenbach in Basel with a teaching diploma. During this time she already made many appearances as a soloist and chamber musician, especially as an interpreter of new music .

Since 1982 she has been studying in Bern with Urs Peter Schneider, Erika Radermacher and Joerg Ewald Daehler. She also completed masterclasses with Tatjana Nikolajewa , Hubert Harry (piano), Yehudi Menuhin , György and Márta Kurtág (chamber music), Vinko Globokar , Frederic Rzewski , Pauline Oliveros , Fred Frith , Alexander von Schlippenbach and Barre Phillips (improvisation).

As a concert pianist Weber appears both as a soloist in Switzerland and abroad (among others under Jürg Wyttenbach and Heinz Holliger ) and in chamber music concerts. As an interpreter, she worked closely with composers such as Erika Radermacher, Urs Peter Schneider, Peter Streiff , Sándor Veress , György Kurtag, Gunnar Berg , Thomas Müller , Erich Schmid , Christian Henking and Edu Haubensak . She improvises both in solo concerts and with artists such as Erika Radermacher, Irène Schweizer , Alfred Zimmerlin , Balts Nill , Christian Kobi , Jürg Solothurnmann , Christian Wolfarth , Fred Frith, Fredy Studer or Barry Guy . As an improviser, she has also participated in cross-genre projects (for example with pantomime, theater, painting, poetry). She played a key role in setting up the workshop for improvised music in Bern.

Weber can be heard on numerous radio recordings and albums, including a. as interpreter of works by Albéric Magnard , Pierre Mariétan , Hanns Eisler and Brian Agro and as accompanist for Katrin Frauchiger. Since 1994 she has also developed compositions, both in the form of improvisational concepts and as fully composed solo, chamber music and choral pieces.

Weber teaches piano and improvisation at the Conservatory of Music Bern and at the Bern University of Arts .
