Christian Wolfarth

Christian Wolfarth (* 1960 in Zurich ) is a Swiss jazz drummer.

Wolfarth trained as a cook from 1976 to 1979. In 1981 he moved to Bern , where he studied with Billy Brooks at the Swiss Jazz School from 1982 to 1986 . This was followed by studies with Pierre Favre at the Lucerne Conservatory (1992–96) and composition studies with Siegfried Kutterer in Basel (1995).

He worked with musicians such as Christine Abdelanour , Burkhard Beins , Urs Leimgruber , Jacques Demierre , Enrico Malatesta , Ingar Zach , Evan Parker , Albert Mangelsdorff , Werner Lüdi , Paul Lovens , Norbert Möslang , Alexander von Schlippenbach , Hans Koch , Simon Picard and Jürg Solothurnmann together and took part in interdisciplinary projects in the fields of theater, film, video, contemporary music and dance (including with Nina F. Schneider's dance company ). In 1996 his first solo album 3-3-2 was released . In 2005, For4Ears was followed by his second solo album, wolfarth. In 2009 he founded his label hiddenbell records , on which further solo works were published. He was or is active in duo formations with Irène Schweizer , Donat Fisch ( Circle & Line ), Michael Vorfeld ( Vorwolf ), Joke Lanz (Tell), Jason Kahn , Frantz Loriot and Philipp Schaufelberger . In a trio with Jason Kahn and Günter Müller , with Michel Wintsch and Christian Weber ( WWW ), as well as Tomas Korber and Christian Weber ( Mersault ) and with Frantz Loriot, Antoine Chessex and Cédric Piromalli in the quartet Der Verboten. He also works in a duo with classical guitarist Christian Buck.
