Adult Catholic Catechism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic Adult Catechism (KEK) published by the German Bishops' Conference explains in two volumes the Church's creed (Volume 1, 1985) and the life of faith (Volume 2, 1995) from the perspective of the Roman Catholic Church . It was created on the basis of the developments and findings of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and the Würzburg Synod (1971-1975).

content

In the first volume, which under the direction of Walter Kasper was developed by a catechism Commission is along the major creed in three parts ( God the Father - Jesus Christ - The work of the Holy Spirit ) the doctrine unfolded.

The second volume - Cardinal Wetter headed the preparatory work from 1982 onwards - was published in 1995 after references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992) and the encyclical Veritatis Splendor (1993) had been incorporated into the original text. It presents the Christian ethos in two parts and a final part ( call of God - answer of man , the commandments of God , conclusion: love is greatest - abiding in love ). It explicitly represents the Christian life in the sense of the 10 commandments .
