Hans Rotter (theologian)

Hans Rotter (born October 6, 1932 in Hemhof near Rosenheim ; † March 10, 2014 in Zams ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and clergyman .

Life

Rotter entered the Jesuit order in 1953 . He studied Roman Catholic theology in Pullach ( Berchmannskolleg ), at the University of Innsbruck and at the University of Munich . In 1964, Rotter was ordained a priest. He received his doctorate in Innsbruck in 1967, followed by his habilitation in moral theology in 1969 . From 1970 to 2001 Rotter was professor for moral theology at the University of Innsbruck. From 1970 to 1974 he was a senator at the university and from 1974 to 1975 he was dean of the theological faculty at the University of Innsbruck. 1980 to 1991 he worked on the ethics committee of the medical faculty of the university. From 1976 to 1986 he was the rector of the International Theological Convict Canisianum .
