Catholic rectory (Worms-Herrnsheim)
The Catholic rectory in Worms-Herrnsheim is a baroque complex from 1730 and is a listed building .
history
The local lords of Herrnsheim, the barons of Dalberg , were responsible for the building load obligation for the church buildings in the village. This also included the Roman Catholic rectory . The local lord at the time, Franz Heinrich von Dalberg , was married to Maria Sophie Anna von Eltz-Kempenich .
In 1730 the new rectory was built.
building
The building was erected on a long, rectangular floor plan on the main street of the village, diagonally across from the village church of St. Peter . It is a generously dimensioned, eaves-standing , two-story building with a hipped roof with seven window axes . The house stands on a stone-covered sandstone plinth and is plastered except for the walls . The facade is symmetrical, with the entrance in the middle. This is emphasized by a two-flight staircase in front, the width of which takes up the entire sidewalk of the street. The entrance is further emphasized by an elaborately designed entrance, also made of sandstone, the decorative structure of which extends to the cornice of the window above on the first floor. Above the entrance door is the alliance coat of arms of Franz Heinrich and Maria Sophie Anna and again above that a niche with a figure of a saint. The monument topography rates the house as a “graceful baroque house, the highest quality of its kind on site”.
The house is a cultural monument due to the monument protection law of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
