Kathrin Amacker (born March 30, 1962 in Basel ) is a Swiss manager and former politician ( CVP ).

Professional career

Amacker grew up in Allschwil and completed the Matura type B in Basel . She studied pharmacy at the University of Basel from 1981 to 1986 and graduated as a federal pharmacist . From 1987 to 1990 she wrote a dissertation in pharmaceutical galenics and was awarded a Dr. phil. II PhD . From 1990 to 2010 she worked for Ciba-Geigy and its successor company Novartis , where she was responsible for equal opportunities from July 2003 . Between autumn 2010 and spring 2013 she was a member of the Swisscom Executive Committee , where she was in charge of corporate communications. From 2013 to 2020 Amacker worked at SBB in the group management as head of communications.

politics

At the beginning of her political career, Amacker was a board member of the CVP Binningen and the women's group of the CVP in Basel. From 2004 to 2009 Amacker was President of the CVP Basel-Landschaft . In February 2007 she was elected as district administrator. In the elections on October 21, 2007 , she was elected to the National Council and on April 26, 2008 to the party presidency of CVP Switzerland. In May 2010, she announced her resignation from her political office due to the incompatibility of her new professional activity at Swisscom with her national council mandate.

Kathrin Amacker has been president of the Regio Basiliensis association since May 2011 .

Private

Amacker is married and has three children.
