Kathrin Razum

Kathrin Razum (born March 12, 1964 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German translator .

Short biography

Kathrin Razum studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where she obtained a master's degree in English and history , and at the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge , USA.

During her academic training she worked as a freelance editor at Palmyra Verlag in Heidelberg; through this activity she came to translate. She has been working full-time as a freelance literary translator and editor since the mid-1990s. The authors she has translated include Susan Sontag , Edna O'Brien , VS Naipaul , Vikram Chandra , TC Boyle , Hilary Mantel, and Laird Hunt. Kathrin Razum translates for Hanser Verlag, Hoffmann & Campe, btb, dtv, Nagel & Kimche, Steidl and Diogenes, among others. In addition to her work as a translator, she was a lecturer at the English Department at the University of Heidelberg from 1995 to 2000, and from 1997 to 2008 editor of the magazine Translate , a specialist journal of the VdÜ ( Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works ).

Kathrin Razum lives in Heidelberg .
