Kathrin Schrocke (* 1975 in Augsburg ) is a German author for children and young people.

Life

Schrocke attended the Paul-Klee-Gymnasium in Gersthofen. After studying German and psychology in Bamberg , she took a two-year correspondence course on children's and youth literature in Vienna . She worked as a press assistant in the publishing industry, worked as a journalist for the girls' magazine "Brigitte Young Miss" and as a guest lecturer at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg .

She has been working as a freelance children's and young adult book author since 2008 and publishes her books both under her real name and under the open pseudonym Amina Paul. For her novel Freak City she was awarded the Harzburg Youth Literature Prize ("Harzburger Eselsohr") and the Nettetal Youth Book Prize. The book was also nominated for the German Children's and Youth Literature Prize 2011. At the Book Fair in Krakow , the novel was awarded the title “Best Youth Novel International 2012”. In the 2017/2018 winter semester, Schrocke was teaching poetry for children and young people at the PH Karlsruhe .

From 2015 to 2018, after separating from her husband at the time, the author lived in the generation cult house in Essen .
