Katja Gentinetta

Katja Gentinetta (* 1968 in Brig ) is a Swiss political philosopher, author and television presenter .

Life

Gentinetta grew up in Valais . After graduating from Matura Type B in 1988, she studied German, history and philosophy at the University of Zurich and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris from 1989 to 1993, and obtained a degree in German in 1995 . From 1995 to 1997 she completed the “European Executive Program for Arts & Media” at the International Center for Culture and Management in Salzburg . In 2001 she did her doctorate with Georg Kohler at the University of Zurich in political philosophy on the subject of “Tolerance without borders? Global realities and the political culture of Switzerland ». In 2006 she completed the Senior Managers in Government program at Harvard Kennedy School .

From 1996 to 1999 Gentinetta headed the Forum Schlossplatz in Aarau . From 1999 to 2002 she was the project manager for the canton Aargau's presence at Expo.02 . Subsequently, until 2006 she was head of strategy and external relations at the State Chancellery of the Canton of Aargau. From 2006 to 2011 she was Deputy Director of the Avenir Suisse think tank .

From March 2011 to 2014, Gentinetta was the moderator of the weekly discussion group Sternstunde Philosophie des Schweizer Fernsehen . Since October 2016, Gentinetta has been hosting the program NZZ Standpunkte together with Eric Gujer . Since November 2018 she has been contributing to the “Money & Spirit” column in the NZZ am Sonntag . She also teaches at the University of Zurich and the University of Lucerne and is a lecturer in public affairs at the University of St. Gallen .

Katja Gentinetta is married and lives in Lenzburg .
