Katrin Schmidberger (born August 3, 1982 in Rosenheim ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life

Schmidberger grew up in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate , where she graduated from the Ostendorfer Gymnasium in 2002 . Schmidberger has lived in Berlin since 2002 . She studied social sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Schmidberger was involved in politics alongside her studies and is a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party . From 2003 to 2011 she worked for Hans-Christian Ströbele, member of the Bundestag . Schmidberger has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2011 .

Katrin Schmidberger has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 2000. She was the spokesperson for the Bavarian Green Youth from 2000 to 2001 and political director for the Federal Green Youth Association from 2002 to 2004. She was also for the Green Youth as their representative in the attac Council. From 2006 to 2011 she was a member of the executive committee of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Berlin. On September 18, 2011 she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 through the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , Schmidberger was directly elected in constituency 1 in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg ( Gleisdreieck , Yorckstrasse Town Hall, Viktoriapark , Chamissokiez , Bergmannkiez , Graefekiez ) with 44.1 percent of the first votes. She achieved the second-best election result in a Berlin constituency in 2016.

Since 2016, Katrin Schmidberger has been spokeswoman for housing and rents as well as spokeswoman for tourism for the Green House of Representatives. In the previous legislative period, from 2011 to 2016 she was the spokesperson for rents and social city as well as the spokesperson for club culture. She is a member of the Committee for Urban Development and Housing and the Committee for Home Affairs, Security and Order. In addition, Schmidberger is a member of the Social Advisory Board of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Berlin, a member of the “Rent and alternative housing policy” network and a member of the “New Property Policy” round table.

Katrin Schmidberger advocates the preservation of inexpensive living space, the protection of tenants from displacement and social urban development. She speaks out against the use of living space as holiday apartments and calls for a stricter ban on misappropriation for Berlin. Schmidberger is also committed to preserving social housing in Berlin. She also speaks out in favor of a new property policy and against the privatization of public properties. So she rejects z. B. the sale of the Dragoner area in Berlin-Kreuzberg by the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks (BImA) to a private investor.

She supports the Berlin rent cap and the demand to nationalize Deutsche Wohnen .
