Katutura is a Namibian action film and drama from 2015. The script was written by Obed Emvula and Florian Schott , who also directed . It is the first film from Namibia to be distributed internationally. The production wasrealizedwith the support of the Namibia Film Commission .
Katutura follows a group of characters in Katutura , a poorer, mostly black area of Windhoek . The film accompanies them in their daily struggle for survival.
Festivals and Awards
Katutura won nine of the 15 categories at the Namibian Theater and Film Awards in 2016 . The film has been shown at numerous international film festivals , including the Pan African Film Festival , Helsinki African Film Festival in Finland , Ecrans Noirs Film Festival in Cameroon and the African Film Festival in Trinidad and Tobago .
