Katzenbach is a district and a district of the city of Kirchen (Sieg) in the district of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) in northern Rhineland-Palatinate on the border with North Rhine-Westphalia . Katzenbach was an independent municipality until 1969.

geography

The place Katzenbach is on a plateau between Kirchen and Brachbach on the slopes of the "White Stone" and the "Kahlenberg" above the Siegtal .

The district of Katzenbach also includes the district of Euteneuen, located in the Siegtal, as well as the residential area Eutebach.

history

On June 7, 1969, the previously independent community of Katzenbach with 397 inhabitants at that time was incorporated into Kirchen (Sieg). The previous district of Unterbündenholz was separated and instead incorporated into the local community of Brachbach.

politics

Katzenbach is designated as a local district of the city of Kirchen (Sieg) and has a local advisory board and an honorary mayor .

The local advisory board consists of five advisory board members. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , these advisory board members were elected by majority vote.

Mayor is Jürgen Irlich (CDU). In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was re-elected with 87.50% of the vote.

Culture

A lively club life enriches local life. The community center is regularly used for events, especially during the carnival season.

Economy and Infrastructure

The district road K97 connects Katzenbach to the road network. To the west it leads to Kirchen (Sieg) and to the east to Brachbach.
