On June 4, 1525, the last battle of the German Peasants' War in Franconia took place at the site of today's Kauzenmühle , in which the peasants were defeated by the army of the Swabian Confederation . According to Lorenz Fries , around 5000 farmers lost their lives. After the battle, 356 experienced peasants who had withdrawn to Florian Geyer 's castle were also defeated in the course of storming the castle. Then the villages of Bütthard , Sulzdorf and Giebelstadt were burned down.

On May 1, 1978 the community of Ingolstadt, to which the Kauzenmühle also belonged, was incorporated into Giebelstadt.
