Sulzdorf is a district of the Giebelstadt market in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

location

The village is located about 15 kilometers south of Würzburg on the corridor in the valley of the Sulzdorfer Bach , a source brook of the Wittigbach , and on the southern slope of the Ruppberg. The district road WÜ 13 crosses the village.

history

During the Peasants' War in the summer of 1525, Sulzdorf played a role in the regional history of Franconia . After the Franconian farmers besieged the castle on the Marienberg in Würzburg in vain in the early summer of 1525 and some of the farmers lost the battle of Königshofen against the army of the Swabian Federation on June 2, 1525 , the last one took place in the fields near Sulzdorf on June 4 Battle of the Peasant War in Franconia. With the defeat of the peasants in this battle, the revolt of the common man ended, which encompassed almost all of southern and central Germany.

On May 1, 1978 Sulzdorf was incorporated into Giebelstadt .
