The General Inspection of the Cavalry was a military authority of the Prussian Army .

The general inspection of the cavalry was established by AKO on April 1, 1898 from the two independent cavalry inspections that had existed since 1890. In the course of the formation of the General Inspection, two more cavalry inspections were set up. Overall, the general inspection included:

The task of the General Inspectorate was to manage the business and personnel affairs of the cavalry as well as to supervise training and further training in weapons. To this end, she had to inspect each regiment once in a single, squadron or regimental drill within four years . In addition, she was responsible for inspecting the cavalry divisions, the military riding institute, the military training forges and the Remony depots. She was also responsible for the training trips of generals and staff officers of the cavalry.

The general inspection was headed by an inspector general with the rank and duties of a commanding general .

With the outbreak of World War I , the General Inspection and the Cavalry Inspections ceased to exist. In their place there was an inspector of the first-rate squadron in each corps district, who was responsible for overseeing training and horse material. Only the VI. , VII. And VIII. Army Corps had two inspectors.
