Kawika Shoji (born November 11, 1987 in Honolulu ) is an American volleyball player .

Career

Shoji began his volleyball career at Iolani High School in his hometown. His father coached the University of Hawaii women's team and his sister managed the Stanford University women's team . In 2004 Shoji was called up for the first time in the junior national team of the United States and received an award for best setter at the NORCECA championship . In 2007 he reached seventh place with the team at the Junior World Championships in Morocco . In the same year, the Hawaiian began studying political science at Stanford University and played on the university team, where he was at times with his brother Erik on the field. He also completed a few international matches with the senior team . In 2010, Stanford won the NCAA Championship and Shoji was named Player of the Year. He then moved to the Finnish club Isku Volley Tampere , with whom he was third in the national championship. In 2011 he played at the Universiade and was signed by the German Bundesliga club Berlin Recycling Volleys , where he became German champion in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 . Since 2014 his brother Erik has also played with the BR Volleys. For the 2015/16 season he moves to Arkas Izmir .
