Cornelis Reinier (Kees) van Kooten (born August 10, 1941 in The Hague ) is a Dutch cabaret artist and writer .

Personal

Van Kooten was born in 1941 in the Bethlehem Clinic in The Hague as the eldest child of Cornelis Reinier van Kooten and Anna Geertruida Snaauw. In 1945 his sister was born. In 1959 he met his future wife Barbara, with whom he had lived in The Hague since 1966 and whom he married on October 18, 1968. After the wedding they moved to Zuidoostbeemster. They had two children, in 1971 a son who works as an actor and singer, and in 1974 their daughter Kim , who became an internationally successful actress and screenwriter. His wife occasionally starred in his television programs. In 1978 the family moved to Hilversum and in 1996 to Amsterdam .

Koot and Bie

Van Kooten was best known for his collaboration with his colleague Wim de Bie . With him he formed the duo "Van Kooten and De Bie", which made programs for the TV station VPRO for years . His collaboration began at the secondary school, Dalton Lyceum . Here they had founded a cabaret company called Cebrah . The first programs were entitled G.Rapsgewijs and Te hooi en te grap . In addition to television programs, the duo also made the Bescheurkalender between 1972 and 1985 . Van Kooten wrote various books, both under his own name and under pseudonyms . His pseudonyms were Koot, Jan Blommers, Hans van Dek, Tj. Hekking, Heer Koot, Harry F. Kriele and Roman Tate.
