Location of Kegnæs Sogn in Sønderborg Municipality |
Kegnæs Sogn ( German: Kekenis ) is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the peninsula of the same name Kegnæs in North Schleswig in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Sydals Herred in what was then Aabenraa-Sønderborg Amt , then to Sydals Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into the "new" Sønderborg Kommune in the Syddanmark region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .
Municipal area
The municipality covers almost 17 square kilometers, on which 556 people live (as of January 1, 2020), 150 years ago it was more than 1000. The moraine land, which rises up to 20 moh , is quite fertile, but almost completely without forests.
The settlement is predominantly characterized by single farms and smaller groups of houses. Only Sønderby ( Eng .: Sonderby ) and Østerby ( Eng .: Osterby ) form closed villages. Together they form a district, while the northern part belongs to the district of Hjortholm (originally in 1649 Lower German Hartzholm , German: Hirschholm ), the eastern part belongs to the district Nygaard (German: Neuhof ). The three districts formed independent rural communities from 1867 to 1920.
