Felsted Sogn ( Ger .: Feldstedt ) is a parish ( Danish : Sogn ) in Northern Schleswig in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Lundtoft Herred in Aabenraa-Sønderborg Amt , then to Lundtoft Kommune in Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into Aabenraa Kommune , Region Syddanmark , as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

The towerless Romanesque village church of Felsted was built in the 12th century. The rectory dates from the 18th century.

Municipal area

On January 1, 2020, Felsted Sogn had 4,512 inhabitants on an area of 4616 hectares, of which 1079 are located in Felsted itself. Not least because of the long dominant manor rule, the village settlements have remained quite small, but the community is comparatively densely populated. The municipality also includes a small area of the Sønderborg Municipality with 2256 inhabitants.

In the north Felsted Sogn borders on the Aabenraa Fjord (German: Apenrader Förde ), in the west on the parishes of Ensted Sogn (German: Enstedt ) and Kliplev Sogn (German: Klipleff ), in the south on Kværs Sogn (German: Quars ) and Gråsten-Adsbøl Sogn (German: Gravenstein-Atzbüll ) and in the east to Varnæs Sogn (German: Warnitz ).

history

When the Duchy of Schleswig emerged as an independent territory from 1200 onwards and gradually broke away from the Danish royal power, Felsted was in the Lundtoftharde des Ellum syssels . The oldest known form of the place name is Veddelsted .

After the royal castle Søgård (Eng .: Seegaard ) in Kliplev Sogn , the previous center of the Harde, fell into aristocratic hands, most of the municipality of Felsted also came under aristocratic rule. In the 18th century the Meierhöfe Grøngrøft ( Eng .: Grüngrift ) and Kiding broke away from Søgård, as did Ladegård (Eng .: Laygaard ), the main farm in Kværs municipality , with some properties in Felsted. In the north of the parish is also the Skovbølgård (German: Schobüllgaard ) estate , which, with a few exceptions, has been an independent aristocratic estate since the late Middle Ages. The rest of the Lundtoftharde belonged to Tønder Amt (German: Amt Tondern ) until 1850 . In church, school and poor affairs, however, the community continued to form a unit. Felsted shared the pastor with Ensted Sogn well into the 20th century . The best-known pastor of the parish was Mouritz Mørk Hansen (1815–95), who served from 1850 to 1864 and made a name for himself as a Danish national liberal politician.

In 1850 the Lundtoftharde was placed under the Åbenrå County Office . In 1853 the patrimonial jurisdiction of the landlords was abolished, so that Feldstedt was completely subordinate to the Lundtoftharde and the Aabenraa office. After the annexation of Schleswig by Prussia in 1867, Feldstedt came to the Aabenraa district and was divided into the small rural communities of Feldstedt, Tumbüll, Trasbüll (with kiding), Schweirup, Schobüllgaard (with Feldstedtholz) and Gut Grüngrift. The referendum in 1920 brought a clear Danish majority. From June 15, 1920 Felsted formed a unified parish in the Aabenraa Amt that emerged from the district .
