Felsted is a Danish town with around 1000 inhabitants in the Aabenraa municipality in the Syddanmark region .

The Felsted Kirke forms the center of Felsted Sogn .

From 1970 to 2007 Felsted was the center of Lundtoft Municipality , to which Kliplev and Varnæs also belonged.

Economy, infrastructure and education

The most important traffic connection is the trunk road from Aabenraa to Sønderborg ( German:  Sonderburg ), which runs in a north-west-south-east direction through the municipality. In Felsted, a locally important road branches off from this to Gråsten ( German  Gravenstein ). In the west, the road from Flensburg to Aabenraa touches the municipality, which also has good bus connections with neighboring cities on the three roads mentioned.

The place no longer has a railway connection. The southern route of the Aabenraa Amts Jernbaner with a station in Felsted was abandoned without replacement as early as 1926 when the focus was on expanding the country roads. Lundtoft station, which has been on the Sønderborg – Tinglev railway line, which has been electrified since 1996 , was closed in 1974, so that Kliplev and Gråsten are the next stations today.

The community is dominated by agriculture, the soils are mostly very fertile. There are also some handicraft businesses, but no larger business settlements. There are only a few shopping opportunities, so that the residents usually have to move to the larger neighboring towns.

The Felsted Centralskole school , a German school and a German kindergarten are located in Felsted . The Aabenraa municipal library has a branch library here.

Culture and sights

The towerless Romanesque village church was built in the 12th century. The rectory dates from the 18th century.

Of the farms in the municipality, the former aristocratic estate Skovbølgård (Eng .: Schobüllgaard ) is the most notable example. The main house was designed in the frugal Nordic Baroque style in the early 18th century .

A legend tells of events that are said to have happened in the 17th century at Schobüllgaard Castle. A witch is said to have been lying in chains in the corner tower of the castle, who was supposed to be burned alive. The lord of the castle, Jasper von Buchenwald, was sitting in the middle of the day with his drinking companions in the knight's hall and boasted that he would bring black Katrin to Flensburg the next day and have her burned there. The devil won't be able to stop him. Soon afterwards the head of house noticed in his room, which was below the dungeon and which he shared with five noble gentlemen at night, how the woman drove through the chimney with her chains, was thrown with full force by the devil onto the bridge and from there on flew on to the land of Herr von Alefeld at Seegaard , where she lay dead. Therefore, Herr von Alefeld soon wrote to Herr von Schobüllgaard that he should remove the carrion from his land. But Herr von Schobüllgaard wrote back: “If the devil has brought you a roast, then eat it alone.” Therefore, the corpse remained lying until it was eaten by the dogs and birds, since the two gentlemen did not care about the “odds and ends “Wanted to take care of the devil.
