Holbøl ( German: Holebüll ) is a Danish town with 428 inhabitants in the Aabenraa municipality , Syddanmark region . The Romanesque village church (frescoes, free-standing bells ) is the center of Holbøl Sogn .

The lending library fell victim to savings measures after the municipal reform in 2007. The nearest branch library is in Bov, ten kilometers away .

The community has a voluntary fire brigade , a facility that is widespread in North Schleswig , but unusual in the rest of Denmark, as the Danish rescue service is in the hands of the Falck company .

In 2015 the place got a second flower as part of the development program "Blooming Villages" (www.blomstrendelandsby.dk), in 2017 the third.

Economy and Infrastructure

The section Padborg - Kværs (dt. Pattburg - Quars ) of the railway from Flensburg to Sønderborg was closed in 1936, so that Holbøl lost its station. The Tinglev –Tørsbøl – Sønderborg ( Eng . Tingleff - Törsbüll - Sønderborg ) runs directly north of the municipality . However, the three nearby train stations Lundtoft, Tørsbøl and Rinkenæs (dt. Rinkenis ) have also been inactive since 1974, so that the next train stations Kliplev, Gråsten (dt. Gravenstein ) and Padborg are on the main route Fredericia- Tinglev-Flensburg.

The secondary route 170 from Flensburg to Aabenraa runs west of the village. This means that Holbøl also has an almost hourly bus connection with both cities.

Holbøl has several crèches, a kindergarten, a private school with 217 children (as of April 2017) in the years 0–9, the Holbøl Landbohjem for overnight stays and parties and a supermarket that is open daily, Lokal Brugsen, with a 24-hour petrol station. There is also a fitness center in town, and the multi-hall under construction will be available from summer 2017. There is also a sports stadium with a football track and tennis courts in the village.
