Hellevad ( German Hellewatt ) is a Danish town with around 500 inhabitants in the Aabenraa municipality , Syddanmark region . The stately Romanesque village church forms the center of Hellevad Sogn .
Economy and Transport
The most important traffic routes are the secondary route 429 from Løgumkloster ( German Lügumkloster ) to Rødekro ( German Rothenkrug ) and the secondary route 179 from Ribe to the south towards E 45 .
With the Lügumkloster – Haberslund (–Apenrade) line of the Apenrader Kreisbahn in 1901, Hellewatt received a rail connection with a train station and a stop in Hellewatt Mühle. This line was merged in 1926 when it was converted into the Bredebro – Løgumkloster – Rødekro line , but was closed again in 1936. The station in Hellevad was thus omitted. The station building has been preserved as a hotel.
