Uge Sogn ( dt .: Uk , sønderjysk : Uch ) is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in Northern Schleswig in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Lundtoft Herred in what was then Åbenrå-Sønderborg Amt, then to Tinglev Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into Aabenraa commune in the Syddanmark region as part of the local government reform on January 1, 2007 .

Uge Kirke is the center of Uge Sogn . The Romanesque village church does not have a tower, but a wooden stack of bells . Notable pieces of equipment are the Romanesque font and the pulpit from Hinrich Ringeringk's workshop in Flensburg.

Municipal area

The parish of Uge, which is quite small compared to the neighboring communities, has an area of approx. 30 square kilometers and 485 inhabitants, 232 of them in Uge (as of January 1, 2020). It borders in the north on Bjolderup Sogn , in the east on Ensted Sogn (German Enstedt ), in the southwest on Tinglev Sogn (German Tingleff ) and in the southeast on Kliplev Sogn (German Klipleff ).

history

In the Middle Ages, Uge belonged to the Harde Lundtoft Herred (German: Lundtoftharde ), which was named after Kliplev in the oldest sources such as the earth book of King Valdemar the Victor of 1231 . The western part of the parish with the villages of Lovtrup (German: Lautrup ) and Almstrup originally belonged to the parish of Tinglev and the neighboring Slogs Herred (German: Schluxharde ), which was even named after Lovtrup at times.

Uge is not far from the Ochsenweg . Not far from it was in all probability Urnehoved , in the Middle Ages the Schleswig country thing . Today there is a memorial site here, even if there may have been other possible Ting sites. During the Thirty Years War , Uge was allegedly sacked by Wallenstein's troops passing through .

The legal and administrative district of the Lundtoftharde was administered from the lordly castle Søgård (Eng .: Seegaard ) in the parish of Kliplev. In the 14th century, however, this fell into noble hands and could no longer be redeemed by the duke or king . From then on, Søgård was the largest aristocratic estate in the Duchy of Schleswig, and several of its owners were royal governors in Schleswig and Holstein . In contrast to most of the Lundtoft Herred, however, most of the municipality Uge remained with the sovereign and for a long time, like Rinkenæs (German Rinkenis ), formed one of the only two contiguous parts of the old Harde that were not under the rule of the manor. It was not until 1853 that the estates lost their status as legal districts. The Lundtoftharde was thus reunited, after it had already been transferred from Tønder Amt (German Tondern ) to Aabenraa in 1850 .

The war between Denmark and the great German powers led to the annexation of the Duchy of Schleswig to Prussia in 1864 . The community was divided into the two rural communities Uge and Lovtrup (with Almstedt) and came to the new Aabenraa district, which was almost identical to the old office.

In the referendum of 1920 there was only a narrow Danish majority of 174 to 165 votes in Uge. From then on, the parish of Uge formed a unified municipality in the newly structured Danish Åbenrå office .

In 1970 Uge was merged with Bjolderup , Burkal (German Buhrkall ), Bylderup (German Bülderup ), Ravsted (German Rapstedt ) and Tinglev to form the new Tinglev municipality . In 2007 this became part of the large municipality of Aabenraa, which, however, has greatly changed its size and is equivalent to the old Åbenrå office.

Economy and Transport

Uge Municipality is on the main road from Tønder and Tinglev to Aabenraa and has relatively good bus connections. There is also a junction of the E 45 motorway on this road four kilometers northeast of Kirchdorf .

The Fredericia – Flensburg railway touches the western part of the municipality, which has never had a train station here. Immediately to the south-west of Tinglev is the Intercity train station, which branches off towards Sønderborg ( Sonderborg in German  ). The neighboring stations in Bolderslev ( German Bollersleben ) in the municipality Bjolderup on the main line and Bjerndrup ( German Behrendorf ) in the municipality Kliplev on the Sønderborg line were closed in 1974.
