Bjolderup Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in North Schleswig in southern Denmark . Until the Danish municipal reform in 1970 it formed a municipality in the Harde Rise Herred in Aabenraa County (dt .: Office Aabenraa), after which it became part of the tinglev (dt. Tingleff ) in Sønderjyllands Amt in turn with, municipal reform in 2007 in the Aabenraa Commune rose. The boundaries of the Evangelical Lutheran parish still correspond to the historical parish.

Municipal area

The area of the municipality of Bjolderup covers 56 km². Today 1783 people live here (as of January 1, 2020). The focus of the settlement is the village of Bolderslev (dt. Bollersleben ), while the actual Bjolderup consists only of a church, pastorate, former school and some newer houses.

Neighboring communities are (clockwise) in the north Hjordkær (German Jordkirch ), in the east Ensted (German Enstedt ), in the southeast Uge (German UK ), in the south Tinglev (German Tingleff ) and in the west Ravsted (German Rapstedt ) .

history

The area of the municipality has been populated at least since the early Bronze Age. Some burial mounds have been preserved on the ridge.

The name Bjolderup first appears in the 13th century as Biuldorp . The village of Bolderslev is mentioned in King Waldemar's earth book in 1231 as a special royal estate Balthersløøf .

The Ochsenweg runs through the east of the municipality . In the immediate vicinity of the same, here or a little south in the municipality of Uge, was probably the state thing of the Duchy of Schleswig Urnehöved .

The history of the old Bolderslev manor is complicated and difficult to reconstruct.

Economy and Transport

In the north-west of the municipality runs the Tønder - Aabenraa (Eng. Tondern – Aabenraa ) road, which has a connection to the E 45 motorway a little further east .

Bolderslev

The municipality of Bolderslev , which is 3 kilometers away and belongs to the parish of Bjolderup Sogn, had been a train station on the Flensburg – Fredericia railway since the 1860s . This was important for a wide area, and the small town of Bolderslev grew quickly. In 1974, however, the station was closed. In 1996 the old station building was consequently demolished. In the course of the electrification of the railway line, level crossings were dismantled in town and the traffic management for road traffic was regulated via road bridges and underpasses. The roads Hellevad-Bovvej and Ringvey in Bolderslev provide relief from through-car traffic; In view of this street layout and the railway layout without level crossings, the residents complain of lower economic growth due to the three-part division of the town.

In Denmark the nearby community Bolderslev location as domicile and production site of the baked goods factory is Kohberg Bakery Group A / S known.

Attractions

The nave of the Bjolderup church dates back to the 12th century

The Romanesque St. Mary's Church, which has simply been called Bjolderup kirke in Denmark since the 20th century , is located on a hill in the middle of the parish and is also visible from afar thanks to its high Gothic tower. The construction of the nave goes back to the 12th century. In the 14th century the nave was extended with an extension to the northeast.

The tower was added to the west side of the nave in 1589. The height of the tower is 38 meters. On the west side, the tower is supported with two inclined solid masonry supports on the north-west and south-west outer corners of the tower. It is difficult to understand whether these supports on the wind-bearing west side were designed to function statically for pressure or for tension.

The historically significant grave slab of Bjolderup , which was dated around 1200 and bears the inscription "Ketil Urne ligger her", was found outside in 1717, first served as an entrance slab and in 1825 was moved to the church gallery. In 1841 the grave slab was taken to a museum in Kiel and was then taken to Schleswig to Gottorf Castle , which is now the State Museum of Prehistory and Early History, where it was kept until 1986. Bjolderup's grave slab has been on display again in Bjolderup Kirke since 1987 .
