The Fredericia – Flensburg railway is a rail link between Denmark and Germany . It is part of the Jutland line and is continued on the Flensburg – Neumünster railway line .
The line is single-track between Tinglev and Padborg , otherwise double-track.
history
The license for the Padborg – Vamdrup section was granted on January 1, 1862.
The line was put into operation on June 15, 1864 by the Nordschleswigsche Eisenbahngesellschaft from the Nordschleswigsche Weiche near Flensburg - Weiche to Rothenkrug (Danish: Rødekro since 1920), the further expansion to Wojens followed on October 1, 1864 The then new German-Danish border at Farris was completed on January 1, 1866.

After the loss of Schleswig in the Prussian-Danish War , ownership of the line was transferred to the Altona-Kiel Railway Company on January 1, 1870 . After the First World War and the referendum in Schleswig , Denmark took over the route like all of Northern Schleswig from the new border at Padborg, so that the Danish State Railways have been the owners since June 1, 1920 . The border station has been Padborg ever since .

In addition, the Apenrader Kreisbahn and Haderslebener Kreisbahn district railway companies were established in the new German districts, and they contributed to the development of North Schleswig. In Sonderburg, it was possible to change to the circular path on Alsen after a short walk .
Route expansion
After the two-track expansion of the line between Vojens and Tinglev in 1996, Banedanmark installed a second track between Vamdrup and Vojens and prepared the section for a maximum speed of 160 km / h. The building permit for the project was granted on May 23, 2012. The expansion began in spring 2014 and was completed in autumn 2015.
passenger traffic
In the Fredericia – Flensburg section, the Aarhus – Flensburg IC trains run every two hours, two of which continue to Hamburg. These trains stop at all existing stations except Taulov. There are also regional trains to Tinglev. Taulov station is served by regional trains that run from Lunderskov to Esbjerg.
