The Kelheim is a day excursion ship of Personenschiffahrt Stadler GmbH, completed in 2015, with home port Kelheim .

It will be used in excursion traffic on the Danube and Main-Danube Canal . It is used to travel the Danube route between Kelheim and Weltenburg Abbey , the so-called Danube Gorge , and the route from Kelheim to Riedenburg in the Altmühl valley .

technology

The ship is 49.90 meters long, 10.10 meters wide and has a draft of 0.80 meters. The main engines are two Volvo engines with 212 kilowatts each . It is driven by two STP 320 type Schottel propellers. The on-board electrical system is fed by two generators with 139 kVA each, which are driven by diesel engines. In order to be able to sail at low tide (level of 2.25 meters) and also at high tide (5.10 m), the very low draft was chosen in combination with a lowerable wheelhouse.

The ship is approved for a maximum of 540 people and has space for 200 people on the closed main deck with loose seating. The open deck with a retractable awning has 300 seats. The ship is “barrier-free” thanks to the threshold-free access to the main deck and the elevator between the main and open deck.

history

The Kelheim was built as a new building under the construction number 208 at the Lux shipyard in Niederkassel am Rhein and was put into service on March 20, 2016 by the Stadler passenger shipping company . The launch took place on November 25, 2015 after almost a year of construction. After an eight-day transfer trip, the ship arrived at its home port of Kelheim on December 22, 2015.

Predecessor and successor

The 2015 Kelheim is the operator's third ship with this name. The predecessor was the Kelheim (1979) , also built by the Lux shipyard , which was sold to the Moselle in 2015 and will operate there as Bernkastel in the future . Its predecessor was the Kelheim, built in 1958 by the shipyard Christof Ruthof in Regensburg.
