Kelsey Wys (born February 4, 1991 in Coral Springs , Florida ) is an American football goalkeeper .
Career
During her studies at Florida State University, Wys played for the Florida State Seminoles team there and in 2010 also played sporadically for the W-League participant Colorado Rush . In January 2014, she was signed in the second round of the NWSL's college draft at position 18 by the Western New York Flash and made her debut there on May 11, 2014 in the home game against Sky Blue FC . She represented the previous goalkeeper of the Flash, Lydia Williams , who was posted to the Australian national team . In this game, according to the preliminary match report, Wys also managed a direct assist for attacker Abby Wambach with a wide tee shot , a novelty for a goalkeeper in the NWSL at the time. However, Wys removed this assist in the final version of the match report, as an opposing defender had extended the ball. For the 2015 season she switched to Washington Spirit in exchange for Chantel Jones .
National team
Wys was part of various American youth national teams until 2013, but was no longer used in official international matches after 2008.
