Emetic Records released the double tribute album For the Sick on March 20, 2007 with a variety of bands from the American metal and hardcore underground. The owner of Emetic Records Steve Rarick, together with the CEO of the company Chris Johnson, put together the compilation to support the members of EyeHateGod after the events that caused Hurricane Katrina .

history

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005, with devastating effects on the city and its residents, including the members of EyeHateGod. Brian Patton lost a close friend. Mike Williams and Gary Marder were made homeless by the hurricane. Williams also spent 91 days in detention and underwent cold withdrawal. The house in which Jimmy Bower lives with his family was also badly damaged. The band members, some of whom had become penniless, were long affected by the consequences of the events . The band's longtime friends Rarick and Johnson decided to support the band.

"All of the artists involved in the release are friends or fans of the Sludge legend and we are happy to have the best of the underground to support EYEHATEGOD, who were significantly affected in the aftermath of Katrina."

Among other things involved Brutal Truth , which reunited for their contribution, Mouth of the Architect , Kylesa , Minsk and Unearthly Trance . In particular, the reunion of Brutal Truth highlights Mike Williams as personally significant.

“I've been friends with the guys from BRUTAL TRUTH since my stay in Brooklyn, New York City. [...] Of course, I was really excited when I heard that we played a part in their reunion. [...] In my opinion, their cover version of "Sister Fucker" is one of the best songs on the tribute disc. "

- Mike Williams
Brutal Truth, newly reunited because of the EyeHateGod tribute album, in 2007 at the Bergen Metal Fest.

Dan Lilker, founder and bassist of Brutal Truth, explained the participation in the tribute album and the reunification of his band that took place especially for this purpose as a charitable cause to the members of EyeHateGod.

“Hurricane Katrina destroyed a lot of property around Louisiana, including that of some EyeHateGod members who lost all of their homes and belongings. So these guys [Rarick and Johnson] reached out to the scene and if there was a way to put together a tribute album with bands playing EyeHateGod covers, they [EyeHateGod] could use the proceeds to get on their feet. Just for fun they asked if there was any chance Brutal Truth would be on it, because a band like ours that had split up a few years ago would be a good selling point and generate a lot of attention. "

- Dan Lilker

Quotations in the original wording

  1. All the artists involved in the release are friends or fans of the sludge legends and we are happy to have the best of the underground to show their support of EYEHATEGOD, who suffered substantial losses in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
  2. Hurricane Katrina damaged a lot of property around Louisiana, including a couple of members of Eyehategod who all lost their homes and their stuff got all fucked up. So those guys [Rarick and Johnson] reached out to the scene, and if there was any way that they could put together a tribute record of bands doing Eyehategod covers, they [EyeHateGod] would basically be able to use the proceeds from that to get back on their feet. Just for the hell of it, they reached out to see whether there was any way that Brutal Truth would be on it, because having a band like us on who'd been broken up for a couple of years would be quite a strong selling point and help it get a lot of attention.
