Ken Carpenter (cyclist)
Kenneth Michael "Ken" Carpenter (born December 31, 1965 in La Mesa ) is a former American track cyclist .
In 1987 Ken Carpenter won the gold medal in the sprint at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis, ahead of Mark Gorski . Two times - in 1988 and 1992 - Ken Carpenter competed in the Sprint at the Olympic Games: in 1988 he was eliminated in the first round, in 1992 he finished fifth.
From 1988 to 1992 Carpenter was the American champion in the sprint of amateurs , after the Olympic Games in 1992 he immediately switched to the professional camp . In 1992 he was fifth in the Keirin at the UCI World Track Championships in Valencia . In 1993 he was invited to the International Keirin Series in Japan and was the first to finish it. From 1995 to 2008 he also held 1: 02.940 min. the national record in the 1000 meter time trial .
Today Ken Carpenter regularly takes part in cycling races in the Masters class .
