Steve Woznick

Stephen Jon "Steve" Woznick (born October 14, 1949 in Oakland ) is a retired American cyclist .

In 1972 Steve Woznick was the first US champion on the track , in the 1000-meter time trial ; He was able to repeat this success three times in a row by 1975. He started in this discipline at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and finished twelfth. In 1973 he won the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic road race . In 1973 he became the American team pursuit champion , together with John Chapmann , David Chauner and Joe Saling , and in 1974 and 1975 he was also the American sprint champion .

In 1975 Woznick started at the Pan American Games in Mexico City and won the gold medal in the sprint and the bronze medal in the time trial. In his sprint victory, he set a national record over 200 meters (10.7 seconds) that lasted until 1996. In 1973, 1974 and 1975 he started at the UCI track world championships .

In 2003 Steve Woznick was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
