Kenya Sinclair (born July 14, 1980 ) is a Jamaican middle-distance runner who is particularly successful in the 800-meter run .

Career

At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 she was third in the 800-meter semifinals, but just missed qualifying for the final run with a time of 1: 59.45 minutes. In March 2006 she won the silver medal over 800 meters at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow . Less than two weeks later she won another silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in a time of 1: 58.16 minutes over the same distance. In 2007 she was eliminated from the semi-finals at the World Championships in Osaka , where she was fifth with 2: 00.25 minutes.

At the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached the 800 meter final and came in sixth with a time of 1: 58.24 minutes.

In 2009 she did not get past the semi-finals at the World Championships in Berlin for the third time at a World Cup. In 2010 she finished second in the Athletics Continental Cup in Split in 1: 58.16 minutes. In 2011 she reached a World Cup final for the first time in her fourth World Cup participation at the World Championships in Daegu , where she finished seventh in a time of 1: 58.66 minutes.

She is multiple Jamaican champion in the 800 meter run and holds the Jamaican record over this distance with 1: 57.88 minutes (as of June 2011). At the 2011 Jamaican Championships, she won not only the 800 meters, but also the 1500 meters .
