Kenneth Perez (born August 29, 1974 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish football player . He played in the Netherlands from 1997 until his retirement in 2011. From 2011 to 2014 he was part of the coaching staff of the youth teams at Ajax Amsterdam .

Career

Perez started his professional career at Akademisk Boldklub in 1993 . In 1995 he moved to FC Copenhagen , with whom he won the Landspokalturneringen , the Danish Cup, in 1997 . After this success, the striker moved to the Dutch club MVV Maastricht .

Perez stayed with the then promoted team for two years before moving to AZ Alkmaar . There he developed into an important service provider and scored 60 goals in 178 games by summer 2006. Finally, in 2006/07 he moved to the top Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam . One of his greatest successes with AZ was reaching the semi-finals of the 2005 UEFA Cup . In the same year, he was third in the league. Until then, the best placement since 1983.

In the summer of 2006, Perez moved to Ajax Amsterdam . Although scoring twelve goals in 27 games, the attacker moved to PSV Eindhoven after just one year . Last year he won with Ajax against his new employer in the final of the Johan Cruyff Schaal .

On December 2, 2006, Kenneth Perez was banned from the Dutch Football Association KNVB for racist insults towards the dark-skinned linesman Nicky Siebert in the game against Twente Enschede on November 9, 2006 for five games. In addition, Perez had to pay a fine of 12,500 euros to the association.

After only five months, Perez decided to play for Ajax again and he moved to the Dutch capital for the winter break of the 2007/08 season. Both fan camps criticized this move and this change brought about a lot of discussion about Perez's person. In the summer of 2008, new coach Marco van Basten demoted him to the Ajax reserve squad.

Before the end of the summer transfer period, Perez moved to Twente Enschede . With Twente he was runner-up and cup winner straight away. He immediately integrated himself into the team as a top performer. In the 2009/10 season, the club managed to win the Eredivisie . It was the first title win in the club's history.

At the end of the season, Perez announced his departure from Enschede. In September 2010 he moved to Amsterdamsche FC in top class , where he ended his active career in June 2011.

National team

In November 2003, Perez made his debut in the dress of the Danish national team under Morten Olsen . In the 3-2 win against England he came on for Dennis Rommedahl . In the summer of 2004 he was nominated for the European Championship , where he played a game.

Coaching career

After retiring from his career, Perez was appointed assistant coach to Michel Kreek at Ajax Amsterdam A1 on July 30, 2011. From July 19, 2012 he was assistant coach of the Ajax U-19s and interim coach in October 2012. In the 2013/14 season he was the youth coach of Ajax Amsterdam and left the club at the end of the season.

In addition to Danish and Dutch , Perez also speaks German , Spanish and English . His mother comes from the Spanish island of Gran Canaria and he also has a Spanish passport. He is an expert and analyst at the Dutch TV broadcaster Fox Sports.
